Appetizers: Olive tapenade, bruschetta, asparagus wrapped in proscuitto, and a cheese plate. (All are simple, no cook, and can be made ahead)Starter: Salad with walnuts, cranberries, goat cheese, and basalmic vinegrette, a prawn cocktail, scallops cooked in bacon fat, a broth soup such as italian wedding, or my favourite, smoked salmon and greens (lay a piece of smoked salmon on your board, spread it with a cream cheese/wasabi mixture, put some spring mix in, and roll it like a cigar. They stand up tall and look very impressive. A drizzle of balsamic vinegrette on top finishes it. We served this in a restaurant I worked at.)
Main: Osso Buco (Braised Shank, cooks all day so you can enjoy your guests, has a reputation for being fancy food but it's really no harder than a regular potroast), A baked chicken florentine, chicken satimbocca Click Here , or a pan seared halibut topped with tomato, olives, olive oil, and fresh herbs.
Dessert: creme brulee is just a simple custard with caramelized sugar on top, a pound cake with whipped cream and berries, or a chocolate mousse with a sugar cookie to garnish.
